Editors & Reviewers

Scholar-led peer review and long-term academic governance system

Science Board

An important academic governance hub for the long-term development of the four flagship journal series, responsible for maintaining the academic boundaries, strategic direction, and quality standards of the journal system, while helping strengthen the journals’ influence in Chinese and international academic community.

Stragetical deicison-making

Provide advice and recommendations on new products, services, special topics, sections, and journal directions; assess whether they align with the positioning of the four flagship journal series; and help avoid title drift, scope overlap, and duplicated development.

Academic Governance

The Board not only determine whether individual manuscripts meet publication standards, but also monitors whether journals maintain consistent academic quality, whether special topics address meaningful research questions, whether peer review is sufficiently rigorous, and whether research integrity and publishing ethics issues are handled seriously.

Academic Appointment Recommendations

Participate in the recommendation and evaluation of Editors-in-Chief, Co-Editors-in-Chief, Section Editors, and core editorial board members, helping build high-quality author, reviewer, and academic collaboration networks.

Subsidiary Journal Incubation

When a topic area gradually develops a stable cluster of research questions, author networks, reviewer resources, and readership, the committee will assess whether it is ready to evolve from a main-journal section into a dedicated directional journal, enabling new journals to grow organically from specialized topics and genuine academic communities.

Editorial Board

Organizing real problems through interdisciplinary collaboration networks

Set Direction

Editors-in-chief and co-editors-in-chief define the academic boundaries of journals or special topics, judging which questions are worth organizing and which research fits within the journal system.

Organize Special Topics

Associate editors organize special topics around specific problem clusters, invite suitable authors and reviewers, and turn scattered papers into academically directional discussions.

Expand the Network

International editorial board members connect overseas authors, reviewers, and academic institutions, helping POLYMAS build broader international credibility.

Governance Advisors

For applied, interdisciplinary, and real-world-problem-oriented research, POLYMAS will bring in industry, clinical, and governance advisors to participate in scenario validation.

Peer Review Quality Governance

Critical decisions are made by domain experts, to creat a stable long-term governance mechanism.

Review Process

Technology can assist with organizing materials, flagging risks, and improving process efficiency. Whether a manuscript has academic contribution, reliable methods, sufficient evidence, and valid conclusions must be determined by scholars and editors with professional expertise.

Special Topic Governance

Special topics must show clear problem awareness, academic necessity, and field representativeness, avoiding vague themes created merely to increase publication volume.

Invitation Governance

Invited manuscripts should serve journal direction, special topic development, and academic discussion, rather than bypassing the review mechanism.

Review Governance

Peer review remains independent, confidential, constructive, and traceable, with review comments focused on research quality and academic contribution.

Ethics Governance

For issues involving research integrity and publication ethics, editorial team, editorial board, and the Science Board should jointly participate in judgment and handle them in a prudent, transparent, and traceable manner.

International Expert Network

Building an open-access publishing platform for researchers worldwide

Connect Authors

The international expert network helps POLYMAS discover high-caliber authors, important research questions, and emerging disciplinary directions. It allows journals to do more than passively wait for submissions, enabling them to proactively organize valuable academic topics and support emerging and interdisciplinary directions to form clearer publication contexts.

Connect Reviewers

High-quality review depends on matching right experts. Owing to our editorial board networks, Science Board recommendations, and collaboration with domain experts, our reviewer pool keeps expanding, to improve the professionalism, independence, and constructiveness of review comments.

Connect Academic Communities

A journal's long-term influence relies on whether it truly enters the discussions of academic communities. Through special topics, conferences, editorial board networks, author communities, and international cooperation, individual papers are connected to larger problem networks, enabling research findings to receive sustained discussion, validation, and dissemination.

Reviewer Contribution Incentives

High-quality peer review is one of crucial but easily underestimated contributions in the scholarly publishing system. To address this issue, POLYMAS provides reviewers with an open and transparent review incentive policy.
